The new all-star Colombian band Ondatrópica are the subject of a feature in The Guardian. Guardian journalist Ben Beaumont-Thomas went to Colombia to check out the band as they rehearse ahead of tour dates in the UK, USA and Europe and ended up at a wild gig in a Bogotá squat, with the bar run dry and the music stopping only after the police showed up.

Ondatrópica was bought together by British producer Will 'Quantic' Holland and Mario Galeano of Colombian band Frente Cumbiero and features a raft of legendary Colombian musicians including big-hitting saxophonist Michi Sarmiento, accordion don and multi-instrumentalist Fruko a well as a new wave of South American artists. Together they recorded an album in the Abbey Road of Colombia - the famous Discos Fuentes studio - a potent mix of clasic styles such as cumbia, porro, and gaita with ska, boogaloo, funk and hip-hop. The debut album from Ondatrópica is Released on Soundway Records on 16th July and comes on CD, LTD Deluxe 2XCD, 3XLP w/ bonus 7" and download.
